Quartz Crystals

I'm going to open up this forum, and this area with Quartz. The most common mineral on earth. The most common and "powerful" of all the crystals. It is King, Queen and Jack.
I have some *strong* feelings about crystals. I *LOVE* them. Anyone who has talked with me, or tried to get me to part with one of my "babies" knows I love them. I feel they are something special, but not for the "traditional" reasons.
I don't believe my crystals want to live in the sunlight. They are cave dwelllers. They were happy, and growing well, deep in the ground. In Arkansas they were in red, iron rich clay, and came out of the ground dirty, caked, and reddish brown. They were shielded from most "energy waves" (except magnetism) by the red iron clay. They were soaked in acid, and "cleaned up" to make humans happy, *not* the crystal. They were perfectly happy in the ground, forming clusters, growing, and just "being" true to their nature.
Yes, they can channel or direct light and energy, but that is one of their properties, it's *NOT* what they wanted to do. It's the task we assign them to do.
I surf the net, and find people talking about quartz, and crystals, and I *really* have to admit I laugh, make fun of a lot of them, and so do people who frequent my shop. Why? Because what we read is so totally off the wall, often such deep bullshit (pardon my French, er freedom ), and usually accompanied by a few links to buy something to "find out more." (As an aside, the Penn and Teller HBO show on Feng Shui is a *classic* and should be viewed by *all* people before they start down the path of metaphysical living.)
I know I shouldn't laugh at these people (It probably offends people who think they are so "wonderful" and sensitive), but they have *NO* scientific (or even "logical") base for what they do, or say (other than asking for your money). (Refer to the Penn and Teller expose!)
Often, there is an offer to "energize" the crystal, sometimes for an additional fee, or sometimes for the grossly inflated purchase price it's offered "free".
Let me ask... HOW does that person "ENERGIZE" a crystal that is so old, it pre-dates man, and possibly *any* life on this planet?
Shouldn't the quartz energize us??
How are they going to "energize" something that Nature has created, and energized, and given properties that are innate to it?
They are human. Perhaps they are having a bad day, and what they send you is a crystal "charged" with a lot of "junk"
How do quartz crystals grow? Well, in a nutshell, they like iron rich environments, and take a long, long time to grow, forming, reforming, breaking and healing, and interacting with each other and their environment. When I say a long time, I mean a Loooooong time. Geologic time. MILLIONS of years.
By the time they "surface" or are _RIPPED_ from their happy homes, they have already defined their natures, been "charged" or drained, or anything else. No waving of hands, saying of prayers or chants, or sitting in the sunlight for a few hours will change that. No how, no way.
Think about it.
Ascribing "human" desires and wants on to the crystals is presumptuous, and WRONG. Yep. I'll say it. WRONG (remember, no gloves in this forum!)
The crystals have a history that we can only guess at. Some of my favorites show growth, interuption and regrowth. They show how they have overcome adversity, pressures that would crush us into atoms, and stresses that would tear us apart. FROM that, we can feel their power, and learn from them. Each crystal tells a story, and we need to tune in to hear that story -- not make one up!
It has long been said that crystals find their owners. That is a power in and of itself. For those sensitive enough, earnest enough, and OPEN enough, this is a powerful thing! You can feel the crystals, and get to pick the ones that are "tuned" to you.
As I started to say about growth -- they like iron rich soil, and it's said that they also like magnetism ie: being close to the magentic center of the earth. That is why the crystals in Arkansas are so clear, so bright, and so much better than most crystals found anywhere else.
This makes sense to me. Quartz is electrically active. It can be used to light your grills, spark your lighter or keep time in your watch. Iron, magnetism and even saltwater (said to "clean" and "energize" quartz) are related to these properties, and make sense. Saltwater is an electrolyte, conductive of electricity, and could, perhaps, reset a charge on the quartz. But, so can so many other things -- such as sitting it in front of an Ionic Breeze air filter, zapping it with some piezo electric charges, or my favorite -- sitting it in an MRI unit, and giving it a jolt of high-field magnetism in the 1.0-1.5 tesla (10000 -15000 gauss range).
Do you think the quartz cares!? Think about it.
What does the QUARTZ *really* want? To sit in the sun, or to be cleansed with magnetism? It *probably* really wanted to stay right where it was, growing, and being true to it's own nature!
I want to do an experiment to find out, if I can find an MRI center willing to zap some crystals for me, I'll run an experiment asking people to find which crystals "feel" better... the ones I charged in the sun, or the ones that got a few minutes in an MRI... barring that, I'm sure the junk yard will hang their magnet over my crystals for a bit... but I'm hoping the MRI center will do it, since it will be more controlled a study, and alternative health care is so big these days :)
We want the quartz to want to sit on the shelf, in the sun, because the "happy" image of sun and crystals makes *US* feel better. Not the quartz!
Ok... enough of this for now. Feel free to disagree, but state WHY! Remember, there are rules here! :)
FWIW: I am *fascinated* by crystals, and what they can teach. I'm also amazed at the bullshit that is out there about them! Crystals have energy. It can be documented. Our "science" is probably only touching on what that energy is, and how it affects people. But, believe me, having some dude "energize" your crystals may make you feel better, but I can safely say your crystals will have the same "power" or "energy" without his "energizing." Or, having some waife of a girl with a fragile ego, hold and bless your crystals will not make them special. All you may end up having to do is soak them in salt water to drain off his "negative" and "commercial" energies, and allow the true nature of the crystals to emerge. (Remember, crystals can channel, harness, hold and store energy. It's in their nature. They are unaffected by us ie: we can't change their nature - mollecular structure. That is "set". That is what makes them a "crystal." We can, perhaps, impart some of our energy to them. We can, and that is what makes them so special, draw upon their energy to help us feel better. That requires *no* 3rd party human intervention at all.) This is why some crystals speak to us, and others do not. You cannot "mail order" an "energized" crystal and have it be anywhere near as good for you as going down to your local shop and picking the one that "speaks" to you. You need to "feel" it. (ie: find a crystal tuned to your own energies)
